The Town of Wolfeboro is seeking qualified applicants to fill the position of Finance Director. This is a highly responsible and professional position with complex administrative, accounting, and managerial duties; The Finance Director reports to the Town Manager. This position requires the ability to exercise and apply knowledge of GAAP, GASB, Federal and State regulations as they pertain to local government accounting and financial reporting.
The position will be responsible for meeting all State (NH Department of Revenue) and Federal reporting requirements, as well as all financial reporting for Town funds, financial activities, and grants. The Finance Director works with the Town Manager and Department Heads in the preparation and delivery of the annual operating budget (2020 operating budget $28,043,555). Delivery of monthly reports to the Board of Selectman based on budget assessment and analysis is required. This position exercises supervision over the Finance Department and coordinates the annual independent audit.
The Town of Wolfeboro utilizes Capital Reserve Funds in addition to four (4) enterprise funds: Water Department, Sewer Department, Municipal Electric Department, and Parks & Recreation PopWhalen Ice Arena. The Finance Director monitors the performance of municipal enterprise funds while working with Department Heads to achieve long term enterprise fund sustainability.
The ideal candidate shall have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance Management, Public Administration or a closely related field with a minimum of five (5) years of directly related financial/accounting experience with local government fund accounting experience preferred. A Master's Degree is also preferred; however any equivalent combination of education, training and experience shall be considered as the Town continuously looks to improve: systems, technologies, and workflow. Excellent interpersonal communications skills in support of department supervision is critical.
Knowledge of integrated computer accounting systems, general ledger maintenance and analysis with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office is required. Experience with municipal fund accounting systems is required.
