Step into a role where you’ll run CNC lathes, mills, and mill-turn machines, verify quality in process, and help optimize programs and setups. How you’ll contribute
- Make to spec: Produce components to exact customer requirements, performing first piece and in-process checks.
- Program & optimize: Create and update CNC programs; validate revisions and ensure outcomes meet targets.
- Quality at the source: Deburr to requirement, maintain part identification and lot segregation, and keep travelers complete and accurate.
- Protect the process: Detect, segregate, and report nonconforming material and FOD; control discrepant product per procedure.
- Communicate early: Report damaged/nonconforming parts to leads/management immediately; assist with packaging and shipping to keep flow moving.
- Commit to standards: Work within AS9100D and customer-specific requirements; raise safety issues when observed.
Leadership pathway
Lead-track responsibilities include scheduling and coordinating a turning or milling area, troubleshooting issues, refining programs, and partnering with the counterpart area lead for first-piece inspections.
What you bring
- Fluent print reading and a solid grasp of GD&T.
- Comfort inspecting while machines are cycling and running multiple machines when appropriate.
- Dexterity, stamina for long standing, and a sharp eye for detail.
- Cleanliness, organization, and a strong safety record.
- Skill with calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gage blocks, and related tools.
- Team-first attitude in an AS9100 environment; clear communication and strong math skills.
- Plus factors: Brown & Sharpe Micro-Val CMM experience; familiarity with CMM Manager software.
Training, education, and familiarity
- High school diploma or GED.
- AS9100 awareness; familiarity with Jet Machined Products inspection forms and recordkeeping practices is advantageous.
Reporting structure
Reports to the Turning/Milling Lead; if you step into the Lead role, you will report to the General Manager.
Physical realities & environment
- Lift and move machined parts; stand for extended periods.
- Clean, relatively quiet shop; hearing protection required in some areas.
- Eye protection required for certain operations due to hazard potential.
Time demands
Occasional overtime, dependent on workload.
