The Outdoor Industrial Manager will oversee all aspects of operations in an outdoor yard, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant management of processes. This role requires strong leadership, deep technical understanding of industrial systems, and proven experience in managing teams and processes in an outdoor, industrial environment
Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations, including receiving, sorting, processing, and shipping of materials in variable weather conditions

Lead, train, and supervise a diverse workforce comprising equipment operators, sorters, administrative staff, and other facility personnel

Implement and enforce all health, safety, and environmental protocols; conduct regular site inspections to ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

Develop, monitor, and report on production, quality, and efficiency targets; ensure facility meets or exceeds organizational and regulatory standards

Manage incident prevention and loss control programs; investigate and resolve safety issues and claims

Oversee maintenance, repairs, and continuous improvement of facility equipment and infrastructure

Optimize resource and staff allocation to adjust to market, seasonal, and operational demands, promoting high productivity and throughput

Prepare and manage budgets, control costs, and report on key financial and operational metrics

Liaise with vendors, contractors, local authorities, and stakeholders for facility needs, partnerships, and permit compliance

Champion a culture of sustainability and operational excellence throughout the organization
Required Skills and Experience:

Significant experience managing operations in a recycling or waste management environment, with direct exposure to outdoor, industrial settings

Advanced knowledge of plant operations, equipment, and high-speed industrial sorting systems

Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse operational team

Strong problem-solving skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, physically demanding workplace

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with staff, vendors, regulatory agencies, and partners

Proficiency with operational and financial reporting tools; experience in budget management
Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Industrial Management, Environmental Science, or related field

At least five years of management experience in a heavy-industrial settings
Physical and Environmental Demands:

Prolonged periods of operating and moving in outdoor industrial environments, sometimes under adverse weather conditions

Ability to lift and move moderate weights and oversee active plant/facility operations on foot
