Vice President, Commercial Operations

Commercial Position Overview

The Vice President (VP) of Commercial Operations is a senior leader responsible for driving operational excellence, strategic planning, and execution across the company's commercial organization. This role oversees sales forecasting, analytics, incentive compensation, systems, and processes to enable growth and maximize the effectiveness of sales teams across the United States and global markets.

The VP partners with Commercial, Finance, and Digital leadership to ensure accurate forecasting, optimize resource allocation, streamline systems, and deliver data-driven insights that support market expansion and revenue growth. This individual will lead a high-performing operations team and play a key role in building scalable processes to support the company's commercial strategy, product launches, and long-term business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to optimize sales operations, aligning with corporate growth targets and market expansion plans.
  • Drive forecasting, territory design, targeting, resource planning, and incentive compensation strategies in partnership with the Chief Commercial Officer.
  • Oversee sales forecasting, demand planning, and financial modeling to provide timely, accurate, and actionable insights for executive decision-making.
  • Implement analytics and reporting capabilities that provide transparency into sales performance and enable proactive adjustments.
  • Lead improvements in CRM and reporting tools (Salesforce, Veeva, Power BI, MMIT), driving process automation and efficiency.
  • Design, implement, and administer incentive compensation plans aligned to business goals.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of sales operations professionals, fostering accountability and collaboration.
  • Serve as the operational leader for product launches, market expansions, and organizational planning.
  • Work with Global Business Intelligence to ensure data needs are fulfilled for Commercial team

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in operations, commercial operations, or related functions, preferably within pharmaceuticals or biotech.
  • Proven expertise in sales forecasting, sales deployment, targeting, analytics, and incentive compensation design.
  • Proficiency with CRM and analytics platforms (Salesforce, Veeva, Power BI).
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams across geographies.
  • Demonstrates ability to build scalable processes, lead through change, and deliver measurable results.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred
