Position Summary
Thom Child & Family Services is seeking an experienced, collaborative HR Generalist to oversee core HR functions, including employee relations, benefits, onboarding, leave management, and compliance. This role serves as the first point of contact for HR-related questions and ensures HR practices align with agency policies, legal standards, and organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Onboarding & Training
- Manage and improve employee onboarding, benefits enrollment, and orientation in partnership with HR and Training teams.
- Support development and delivery of HR-related training for staff and supervisors.
Employee Relations & Compliance
- Serve as first point of contact for employee inquiries, policy interpretation, and workplace concerns.
- Partner with HR Director to resolve employee issues, maintain compliance with labor laws, and implement talent management initiatives.
- Administer and analyze engagement and exit surveys to guide workplace improvements.
Benefits Administration
- Oversee benefits enrollment, open enrollment, and vendor relations for health, dental, retirement, FSA, COBRA, and other programs.
- Ensure accurate benefits records, billing, and employee communications.
- Provide benefits guidance and training to employees and supervisors.
Leave & Accommodation Management
- Administer all employee leaves (FMLA, PFML, disability, workers’ comp) and ADA accommodations.
- Train and advise managers on leave policies and best practices.
HR Operations & Projects
- Maintain and optimize HRIS (ADP Workforce Now) and ensure accurate data and reporting.
- Support payroll preparation, HR metrics analysis, and special HR projects.
- Mentor HR team members and help strengthen HR practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years’ HR experience with expertise in benefits, leave management, and employee relations.
- Knowledge of FMLA, PFML, ADA, and employment laws.
- Proficiency with HRIS (ADP WFN preferred) and MS Office (especially Excel).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information, resolve conflicts, and work both independently and collaboratively.
