The Hours

The hours for this position are 3:00 AM - 1:00 PM, Monday - Thursday.

During our busy season we anticipate there being some Overtime available. Busy season typically runs from April-July but this can change subject to the needs of the business.

The Pay

The Wick Technician position pays $21.00/hour.

The Location

We are located at 51 Scarborough Lane, Milford, NH 03055. This position is onsite.

Additional Job Details

  • Follows and complies with all safety rules and regulations. Maintains individual work area/equipment in a neat, orderly manner. Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment/ tooling, defective materials and unusual conditions to material lead or supervisor.
  • Follow 5s guidelines
  • Evaluate each shop order including wick type, item number, wick length, correct sustainer, waxed or high melt, and number of wicks per container in accordance with ERP system.
  • Set up machine with wick, sustainer, adjusted length, acceptable crimp, and correct tooling/machine parts for different vessels.
  • Regularly perform preventative maintenance on wickers.
  • Develop and maintain TPM on all wick machines.
  • Responsible for daily updates and continuous track of individual and cumulative down time on wickers.
  • Required daily use of Microsoft office.
  • Maintain Alene standards of performance and comply with housekeeping, safety policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and develop process improvement plans for down time caused by wickers and tabbing operations.

Education required:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)

Range of Experience:

  • 12 months related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to lead small group activities by motivating and directing the team.
  • Ability to develop process documentation.
  • Knowledge of all product types, how to identify differences in wick, and differences in sustainers.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to problem solve and evaluate machine issues at a moment’s notice.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent. Ability to read and use rulers.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is often required to stand and use hands to handle or feel. The employee must frequently move objects and sometimes lift objects up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
