Senior Buyer – Electronics Manufacturing | Aerospace & Defense

A leading advanced manufacturing organization serving the aerospace, defense, and high-reliability electronics sectors is seeking a highly experienced Senior Buyer to join its growing procurement team. This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for a strategic purchasing professional with deep experience in both New Product Introduction (NPI) and high-volume production purchasing within a complex manufacturing environment. This individual will play a critical role in supplier management, material planning, cost optimization, and ensuring continuity of supply for mission-critical programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage purchasing activities across electronic components and multiple commodity categories
- Support both NPI and production purchasing initiatives
- Generate, review, and maintain purchase orders through ERP/MRP systems
- Analyze Material Action Reports (MAR) and take corrective action as needed
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and supplier agreements
- Coordinate with Program Management, Production, Scheduling, and Receiving teams
- Monitor inventory flow, push-outs, pull-ins, shortages, and recovery plans
- Perform cost analysis and support PPV initiatives
- Maintain strong supplier relationships and ensure on-time delivery performance
- Mentor junior buyers and support cross-functional procurement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR, DoD, and related quality standards
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with electronic component procurement
- Proven background supporting both NPI and production purchasing
- Experience within aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing environments preferred
- Strong ERP/MRP experience (Epicor, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- Advanced Excel skills required
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and vendor management skills
- U.S. Citizenship required due to regulatory compliance requirements
