Job Description
This role involves preparing and cooking high-quality meals while maintaining strict food safety standards and delivering an exceptional dining experience for employees and guests. The cook works in a fast-paced kitchen environment, follows recipes and production schedules consistently, and collaborates closely with team members to ensure smooth service.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to established recipes and production schedules.
- Set up and stock cooking stations with all necessary supplies, ingredients, and equipment before service.
- Grill, sauté, roast, fry, and assemble food items as required for daily menus and special requests.
- Ensure food quality, presentation, taste, and portion control standards are consistently met.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations at all times.
- Monitor food inventory levels and promptly notify management of shortages or low stock.
- Properly store food products and rotate stock using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures to minimize waste.
- Assist with receiving deliveries, verifying quantities and quality, and stocking inventory in designated areas.
- Support dishwashing and cleaning tasks as needed to keep the kitchen and service areas clean and functional.
- Provide friendly and responsive customer service when interacting with employees and guests.
- Work effectively as part of a small team within an office building foodservice environment.
Essential Skills
- Proven experience with food preparation and cooking in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Hands-on experience as a line cook or in a similar back-of-house role.
- Strong food preparation skills, including grilling, sautéing, roasting, frying, and assembling menu items.
- Ability to follow recipes, production schedules, and portion control guidelines accurately.
- Working knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
- Experience maintaining cleanliness and organization in kitchen and workstation areas.
- Ability to perform dishwashing and general cleaning tasks as needed.
- Customer service orientation and ability to interact professionally with employees and guests.
- Capability to work collaboratively as part of a small team.
- Attention to detail and commitment to consistent food quality and presentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- foodservice, hospitality, or related kitchen operations.
- Experience in food production environments with an emphasis on efficiency and consistency.
- Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) or similar kitchen best practices.
- Experience working on tray lines or in cafeteria-style service settings.
- Flexibility to assist across multiple roles, including food prep, line cooking, and dishwashing.
- Strong organizational skills for stocking, inventory rotation, and maintaining orderly workstations.

The role is based in a nice office building foodservice operation, working as part of a small kitchen team. You will work in a fast-paced yet controlled environment that emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. Duties include time at cooking stations, prep areas, and dishwashing areas, with regular handling of kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, ovens, and dish machines. Hours are aligned with typical office building dining needs, and the environment focuses on providing consistent, high-quality meals to employees and guests.

This is a Contract position based out of Boxborough, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
