Compassionate Cook – Assisted Living Community
Location: Harmony Homes By the Bay – Durham, NH

At Harmony Homes By the Bay, we’re not just a senior living community — we’re a close-knit family. We’re looking for a friendly, dependable, and compassionate Cook to join our team and help bring comfort and joy to our residents through delicious, nutritious meals.
As a Cook in our Assisted Living and Memory Care Program, you’ll do more than just prepare food — you’ll become part of our residents’ daily lives, sharing stories, building relationships, and serving meals made with care. Your cooking will nourish their bodies, and your kindness will lift their spirits.
What You’ll Do:
- Prepare and serve well-balanced, tasty meals using planned menus and standardized portion sizes
- Accommodate special dietary needs including low sodium, diabetic, vegetarian, and texture-modified diets
- Ensure meals are ready and served on time — because nobody likes a cold dinner!
- Maintain a clean and safe kitchen, following proper sanitation and food safety guidelines
- Assist with ordering, inventory, and cost control to keep the kitchen running smoothly
- Visit with residents in the dining room to gather feedback and foster a welcoming dining experience
- Collaborate with the Head Chef and other team members to continuously improve our food service
What We’re Looking For:
- A caring heart and a team-oriented attitude
- Previous experience as a cook, ideally with 2+ years serving large groups or in a care setting
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly, and stand/walk for long periods
- Comfortable preparing meals for therapeutic diets (bonus if you’ve done this in a senior care setting)
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to follow both recipes and safety procedures
- Must be able to pass a background check
