National Wrecker Service is expanding, and we are actively seeking a skilled full-time Roadside Assistance Mechanic to join our team in Portsmouth, NH. With a steady 4-on/4-off schedule and a role designed for technicians who thrive in the field, this opportunity is built for professionals who enjoy meaningful, hands-on work!
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Our Roadside Assistance Mechanics are the heroes who keep New England's trucks and trailers moving. When a driver is stranded, stressed, and losing valuable hours - you are the one who shows up, diagnoses the issue, and gets them safely back on the road. It's more than repair work... it's meaningful, high‑impact service.
You'll handle on‑site repairs and maintenance for diesel trucks and trailers, including:
- Troubleshooting and repairing Cummins, Detroit, International, Hino, Isuzu, and more
- Performing computer diagnostics and electrical work
- Solving air system issues and performing related repairs
- Working on steering, suspension, air brakes, and general heavy‑truck systems
What You'll Need:
- Diesel mechanic experience
- Heavy truck repair experience
- Knowledge of all makes, including Cummins, Detroit, International, Hino, Isuzu, etc.
- Knowledge of computer diagnostics and electrical systems
- Knowledge of air system diagnostics and repairs
- Understanding of steering, suspension, air brakes, and general truck systems
- Current medical card
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE:
- Pay: $38/hr starting hourly rate, plus incentives on night calls
- Full‑time schedule – 4 days on / 4 days off
- 8am–8pm on shift (report to central location)
- On‑call 8pm–8am during the same 4 days (option to take the truck home if you live close)
