Small Company Manufacturing Controller

The Controller will oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely insights to support decision-making. This role requires both hands-on execution and the ability to improve processes in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and inventory accounting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain and improve cost accounting systems, including standard costing and variance analysis
- Analyze manufacturing costs, margins, and operational performance
- Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial models
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financial controls
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other partners
- Identify and implement process improvements, including ERP and reporting enhancements
- Provide leadership and mentorship to accounting staff (if applicable)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
- 12+ years of accounting experience, with at least 5 years in manufacturing
- Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Ability to work independently and adapt in a small-company environment
- Willingness to be hands on
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders
