Water/Wastewater Operator

VILLAGE DISTRICT OF EASTMAN JOB TITLE: Water/Wastewater Operator JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting with the operations and maintenance of the water supply, treatment, distribution and storage system, and the wastewater collection, treatment and disposal system. The operator performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance work, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of VDE's water and wastewater systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Inspects, tests/samples, operates and/or repairs equipment, pumping stations, reservoir, wells, meters, and other elements of the water and wastewater systems at frequent intervals. The work is typically performed while standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee must frequently lift light and heavy objects, climb ladders, use tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, and be able to distinguish between shades of color. The employee will rotate on-call weeks with current staff. DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS P Graduation from high school education or GED equivalent, and P One (1) years of experience in grounds and general maintenance, and P Possession of or ability to obtain a New Hampshire Grade I Water Treatment and a Grade 1 Water Distribution Certification within one year of employment. P Possession of or ability to obtain a New Hampshire Grade I Wastewater Operator Certification within one year of employment, or P Any equivalent combination of education and experience. This is an hourly position with overtime opportunities. Starting pay is scaled based on experience: $45,000-$50,000 with increases for NH operator grades attained during employment.
