Location: Hyannis, MA 02601
Duration: 13 Weeks
Schedule: 40 hours/week
Shift: Day Shift (8-hour shifts between 5:45 AM – 5:30 PM)
Days: 5 days/week (occasional weekends & holidays required)
Position Overview
"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking a skilled and patient-focused Patient Service Technician / Phlebotomist for a 13-week travel assignment in Hyannis, MA. This role is responsible for providing high-quality patient care through accurate specimen collection, processing, and exceptional customer service. The position requires flexibility to rotate across multiple laboratory collection sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks on both ambulatory and bedridden patients
- Collect additional specimens such as throat swabs and provide instructions for at-home collections (e.g., stool samples, 24-hour urine)
- Process specimens in accordance with laboratory protocols, including centrifuging, aliquoting, and proper storage
- Accurately register patient demographics and enter lab orders into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Ensure proper labeling, handling, and transport of specimens to maintain integrity and compliance
- Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and healthcare staff regarding specimen requirements
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical necessity standards
- Travel between multiple collection sites (including Wilkens and Yellow Brick Rd locations)
- Perform occasional STAT draws at nursing homes, patient residences, or physician offices
- Participate in on-call rotation as required
- Maintain inventory, restock supplies, and ensure cleanliness of phlebotomy work areas
- Address specimen-related issues and escalate concerns as appropriate
- Deliver professional and compassionate customer service to patients and healthcare teams
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a phlebotomy training program or relevant hands-on experience
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
- Prior experience in phlebotomy (clinical or outpatient setting preferred)
- Strong knowledge of specimen collection, handling, and processing procedures
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and basic computer skills (Microsoft Office preferred)
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal in English)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to travel between multiple laboratory sites
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Successful completion of Medical Terminology assessment if required
