The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC mills and lathes. This is a hands-on position suited for someone who is confident in interpreting technical drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, and working independently on complex machining tasks. You’ll be working in a brand-new air-conditioned facility, operating new Haas machinery. We are not a production machine shop. The quantities are from one to a few pieces. - Set up, program, and operate 5-axis vertical mills and mill/turn CNC machines
- Design and develop fixtures and workholding systems to manufacture complex 3D parts
- Create part programs using G-code, conversational, and CAM software
- Perform quality inspections using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM, and other precision tools
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair of institute prototyping equipment and materials inventory management
- Part fabrication and post-processing
- Daily hands-on prototyping, testing and debugging
- Work independently from raw material to finished product
What you'll need
- 5+ years of relevant professional experience
- Proven experience setting up, operating, and/or programming CNC machines (vertical, 5-axis, and mill/turn) to machine low quantity prototype parts
- Strong understanding of G-code programming
- Familiarity with SolidWorks and SolidCAM (or prior experience with comparable software and a willingness to learn through company-sponsored training).
- Solid skills in using precision measurement and inspection equipment
- Working knowledge of GD&T standards
- A team-first attitude and a commitment to delivering outstanding results
- Strong customer service skills
- Mastery of 3D CAD systems (OnShape, Solidworks, or similar)
Bonus
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience solving complex hardware challenges
- Experience with robots or similar complex electro-mechanical systems
- Skilled with metal fabrication tools and processes (MIG, TIG, plasma, etc).
The current reasonable and good faith estimate of the annual base salary range for this position is $128,100 - $237,900, which is based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills and experience, educational background and certifications, performance and qualifications, market demand for the role, geographic location, and other organizational needs. An individual candidate may be considered for this position at a different job level, in which case the appropriate salary range will be provided to the candidate after their qualifications have been established.
Employees who are new to the RAI Institute typically receive an offer that is between the minimum and the midpoint of the posted salary range to allow for growth within the range over time.
Base pay is part of a competitive total compensation package that may include an annual bonus, a long-term cash incentive, monthly cell phone cost reimbursement, commuter cost subsidy, medical benefits, and more.
