DESCRIPTION AND REQUIREMENTS:
We seek a dynamic, experienced, culturally-aware teacher for a progressive Montessori-inspired program that honors educational best practices to teach vocal and instrumental music to children in 1st-6th grade following a curriculum aligned with National Arts Standards. As a co-curricular teacher, the successful candidate will lead music lessons that provide each student with avenues for cultural exploration while deepening each individual learners basic musicianship skills. The candidate will plan and prepare students for musical performances, while evaluating student performance and growth. Co-Curricular teachers work closely with other teachers to develop interdisciplinary learning experiences and to support students social emotional learning. All teachers attend regular meetings and observe, advise, and serve children in the areas of student needs, preparing the classroom environment, curriculum development and delivery, classroom routines, family communication, and record keeping. Elementary Co-Curricular Teachers report to the Director of Elementary. We actively seek candidates who will reflect and enhance the racial, cultural, and gender diversity of our school community.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Prioritize the safety and well-being of all students
- Lead academic and behavioral routines
- Maintain professional communication with peers and families and exhibit a receptive and collegial demeanor
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty to enhance curriculum and community
- Perform arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, monitoring, and other support duties as needed
- Participate in and support special events/activities
- Participate in professional development initiatives
- Lead students 1st - 6th grade in mixed age level classroom music lessons
- Direct chorus ensembles in weekly rehearsals
- Plan and prepare students for school performances, including the Winter Concert
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Music degree required; MA in education preferred
- Experience with a variety of instructional methods and multi-age learning environments; background training in Kodly and Orff classroom methods preferred
- Experience directing young choral singers and preparing ensembles for performance
- Strong piano skills required
- At least three years teaching experience

Kingsley is committed to equitable compensation for all faculty. Faculty salaries are determined based on an experience-based step scale, ensuring fair pay for those with similar teaching experience. Salaries for full-time teachers typically range from $55,000 to $90,000, with the low end reflecting less experienced educators and the higher end recognizing those with over 20 years of teaching expertise.
