Gunstock Mountain Resort is seeking an Alpine Training Manager for the 2026/27 winter season to support the overall quality and consistency of Gunstock's ski and snowboard instruction. This role is responsible for developing and delivering alpine instructor training programs, monitoring the on-hill lesson experience for quality and consistency, and supporting instructor growth through clinics and PSIA/AASI certification pathways. This position reports directly to the Snowsports Director.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Training Program Development & Delivery
- Prepare and deliver preseason and new-hire training for ski and snowboard instructors; monitor implementation and completion of mandatory preseason online training modules.
- Manage weekly in-season training programs and clinics; work with trainers to prepare and deliver weekly content.
- Prepare instructors for PSIA certifications and accreditations; drive training efforts that encourage instructors' pursuit of PSIA/AASI certification.
Quality Standards & On-Hill Coaching
- Establish skill-level criteria for the alpine discipline and train instructors to evaluate participants against alpine skill levels.
- Monitor on-hill lesson delivery to Gunstock standards; identify areas for retraining or improvement for individuals or specific instructor groups.
- Support daily operations and Supervisors as required; instruct lessons as needed.
Training Culture & Team Development
- Develop and maintain a robust training environment within the Snowsports School; drive instructor participation in voluntary training clinics through engaging and meaningful programs and incentives that support a positive training culture.
- Identify instructors with the capability to become trainers and work to develop their skills.
- Coordinate training efforts with the Snowboard Training Supervisor and Nordic Manager to align programs and standards across disciplines.
SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:
- PSIA Level II certification required; plus, experience preparing instructors for PSIA/AASI certification and encouraging participation in voluntary training opportunities.
- Demonstrated ability to coach and develop instructors using industry standards for on-snow teaching and movement-analysis skills, with a strong commitment to consistent service and safety standards.
- Strong communication, organization, and follow-through; ability to deliver clear feedback and re-training plans.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with supervisors and training leaders across alpine, snowboard, and Nordic programs.
