Development & Fundraising Leadership Fellow

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Position Type: Leadership Fellowship
Schedule: Flexible — approximately 2–7 hours per week
Work Arrangement: Remote/Hybrid with occasional Boston-based activities
Cohort: Fall 2026
Compensation: Unpaid Leadership Fellowship / Academic Credit Eligible

Overview

RISE Foundation is seeking an ambitious and relationship-oriented Development & Fundraising Leadership Fellow to support the organization's fundraising, donor engagement, development, and resource-development initiatives.

This fellowship provides emerging leaders with hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor research, campaign development, sponsorships, and philanthropic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development and fundraising strategy.
  • Research prospective donors, foundations, corporations, and sponsors.
  • Assist with fundraising campaigns.
  • Support donor communications and stewardship.
  • Assist with sponsorship research and outreach.
  • Help prepare fundraising presentations and materials.
  • Research philanthropic trends and opportunities.
  • Support fundraising events.
  • Assist with donor and prospect databases.
  • Track fundraising activities and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Grants & Contracts, Marketing & Media, Finance, and executive leadership.
  • Assist with special development projects.

Leadership Opportunities

Fellows may have opportunities to:

  • Lead a donor research project.
  • Support a fundraising campaign.
  • Develop sponsorship materials.
  • Coordinate fundraising events.
  • Present fundraising recommendations to leadership.
  • Coordinate Development Interns on assigned projects.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a college, university, or professional program.
  • Interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, business, communications, marketing, or philanthropy.
  • Strong communication and research skills.
  • Professionalism and relationship-building ability.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working with confidential information.

Previous fundraising experience is not required.
