Job Description

We’re partnering with an established nonprofit healthcare and human services organization seeking an experienced Controller to lead its day-to-day accounting and financial operations.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands the financial complexity of a government-funded, program-based nonprofit, particularly an organization with a meaningful third-party billing component.

\n


\n

The Controller will report directly to senior finance leadership and oversee a small team responsible for accounting, billing, and contract-related finance activities.

\n

What You’ll Do

\n

    \n
  • Lead the monthly and annual close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activities
  • \n

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial analysis across multiple programs
  • \n

  • Manage accounting and financial compliance for state, federal, and privately funded contracts and grants
  • \n

  • Oversee contract billing, reimbursement requests, cost allocations, and financial reporting to funders
  • \n

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the organization's third-party billing and revenue cycle operations
  • \n

  • Monitor AR, denials, collections, reimbursement trends, and other revenue cycle metrics
  • \n

  • Partner with program leadership on budgets, financial performance, contract utilization, and variance analysis
  • \n

  • Lead annual audit preparation and coordinate required nonprofit and government-funded reporting
  • \n

  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, funding requirements, and applicable regulations
  • \n

  • Review financial processes and systems and identify opportunities to improve reporting, controls, and efficiency
  • \n

  • Develop and mentor accounting and billing staff
  • \n

What We’re Looking For

\n

    \n
  • Strong full-cycle accounting background, including close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit preparation
  • \n

  • Hands-on experience with government contracts and/or grant-funded programs
  • \n

  • Experience with contract billing, cost allocations, reimbursement-based funding, and compliance reporting
  • \n

  • Experience overseeing third-party billing or revenue cycle operations
  • \n

  • Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting and GAAP
  • \n

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with accounting/financial reporting systems
