Job Overview
We are looking for a full-time Senior Estimator with extensive experience in multifamily and commercial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating, with particular expertise in take-off procedures. This role is critical in ensuring accurate cost projections and maintaining our competitive edge in the industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for multifamily and commercial construction projects
- Conduct thorough quantity take-offs using advanced estimating software and techniques.
- Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Identify potential cost savings and value engineering opportunities without compromising quality or project objectives.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to gather accurate information for estimates.
- Develop and maintain a database of current construction costs, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Prepare and present detailed estimate reports to management and clients.
- Participate in bid reviews and contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
- Mentor and guide junior estimators, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new construction methods, and materials to improve estimating accuracy.
- Assist in the development and implementation of estimating standards and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments for potential projects and provide recommendations.
- Support the business development team by providing timely and accurate estimates for proposals and bids.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on multifamily and commercial projects.
- Proficient in quantity take-off procedures and methodologies.
- Expert knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
- Advanced skills in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, OnScreen Takeoff) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of building systems, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
- Familiarity with green building practices and LEED certification requirements.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction documents, including architectural and engineering drawings.
