The Hours

The Machine Operator typically works 3:00 am - 1:00 pm, although that can change slightly depending on the needs of the business.

The Pay

The (Wick) Machine Operator position pays $19.00/hour. During our busy season we anticipate there being some Overtime available. Busy season typically runs from April-July but this can change subject to the needs of the business.

The Location

We are located at 51 Scarborough Lane, Milford, NH. This position is onsite.

Additional Job Details

  • Follows and complies with all safety rules and regulations. Maintains individual work area/equipment in a neat, orderly manner. Detects and reports improper operations, faulty equipment/ tooling, defective materials and unusual conditions to material lead or supervisor.
  • Will operate 1 or more auto wick machines daily in accordance with production needs.
  • Review each shop order including wick type, item number, wick length, correct sustainer, and number of wicks per container.
  • Regularly perform quality inspections of product to ensure shop order specifications are being maintained.
  • Provide Assistant Supervisor and Wick Technicians with feedback throughout the shift on quality, safety, and mechanical issues.
  • Maintain the production daily log and appropriate sign-off documentation.
  • Prepares labels for initial startup and new shop order, pull sample bag for QA department.
  • Mount and thread wickers with appropriate wick for shop order.
  • Regularly perform preventative maintenance on wickers.
  • Responsible for daily updates and continuous track of individual and cumulative down time on wickers.
  • Scrap material throughout each shop order.
  • Required daily use of Microsoft office.
  • Maintain Alene standards of performance and comply with housekeeping, safety policies and procedures.
  • Required to perform other duties as assigned by Assistant Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to problem solve and evaluate machine issues at a moment’s notice.

Education and/or Experience

Preferred: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or 12 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate and percent. Ability to read and use rulers.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or touch; reach, talk, hear and smell. The employee may be required to, kneel, crouch, sit, climb or balance. The employee may lift and/or move up to more than 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, and aromas. The employee is occasionally exposed to airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
