Special Education Teacher Extended School Year Contract
Location: Springfield, MA | Elementary School (K-5) | Duration: NSY Contract
An opportunity is available for a certified Special Education Teacher to provide specialized instructional support within an elementary school setting during the extended school year. This role focuses on delivering individualized educational services to students with diverse learning needs while fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Qualifications:
- Massachusetts Special Education certification required
- Proven experience working with K-5 students in special education
- In-depth knowledge of learning disabilities and effective educational strategies
- Skilled in developing, implementing, and monitoring Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities for collaboration with staff, parents, and stakeholders
- Flexibility in adapting curriculum and instructional approaches to accommodate varied student needs
Responsibilities:
- Create, execute, and review tailored IEP goals for students requiring special education services
- Partner with general education teachers and support personnel to promote inclusion and accessibility
- Maintain clear and consistent communication with families regarding student progress and concerns
- Modify instructional resources to ensure all students have equitable access to the curriculum
- Support students social and emotional growth alongside academic instruction
- Engage in team meetings and participate in ongoing professional development activities
