Job Title: Production Planner
Job Description: The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating and optimizing production workflow across multiple product lines. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role ensures efficient scheduling, resource allocation, and inventory control to meet production targets and delivery timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prioritize production operations to ensure maximum efficiency, along with supporting planning of Engineering work that shares production resources.
- Determine labor, equipment, and raw material requirements based on production demand.
- Monitor production progress and proactively highlight any issues that need to be resolved to the Operations Manager or the Engineering Manager where appropriate.
- Track and report on production performance, efficiency, and yields.
- Collaborate closely with Quality, Engineering, and other departments to ensure smooth operations.
- Purchase and coordinate the delivery of raw materials to support production schedules.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and oversee inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock.
- Coordinate outgoing shipments, including packaging and scheduling logistics, to meet customer delivery deadlines.
- Utilize MRP/ERP systems and Microsoft Excel to manage schedules and inventory data.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally in a planning or production coordination role.
- Experience with commercial and/or defense optical products preferred.
- Proficiency with MRP or ERP systems.
- Strong organizational and strategic planning skills.
- Effective time management and the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure.
- Excellent problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
