MANUFACTURING ENGINEER - Assembly
We seek a growth-focused Engineer eager to join our Manufacturing Engineering team with the primary responsibility to support our mechanical assembly area. This Manufacturing Engineer will be a key contributor to a team building a diverse range of vibration and noise control devices used in aerospace and industrial applications.
Position primary responsibilities:
- Sustaining engineering of current products from customer quoting to product shipment, including maintaining process and tooling documentation, line down troubleshooting, and responding to product non-conformances
- Assembly processes Continuous Improvement leader: initiate and lead improvement activities to achieve KPI – 1st piece yield, on-time delivery, non-conformance re-occurrence, labor costs, and materials scrap – stretch targets
- Develop processes for and industrialization of new products to achieve program safety, process capability, labor and materials costs, and cycle time targets
Other Expectations include:
- Collaborative participation with other departments in facility-wide Safety, Quality, and general waste reduction problem-solving activities
- Design and manufacture of internally unique improvement solutions
- Assist with Technician and Operator training
The ideal candidate has:
- Experience and/or knowledge of swagging, staking, and riveting processes and the tooling and equipment to perform these operations
- Experience reading and interpreting mechanical drawings; exposure to GD&T concepts
- Experience using statistics-driven process, tooling, and equipment qualification and validation methodologies
- Experience establishing quantitative (SPC) and attribute (visual and Go/No Go gauges) process controls
- Experience creating operator work instructions and output acceptability visual standards
- Experience and/or knowledge of assembly cell layout and material flow, including employment of process mapping, time & motion studies, ergonomics, error proofing (poka-yoke), visual management, and one-piece flow
- Experience and/or knowledge of industry best practices, problem-solving, root cause and corrective action implementation methodologies, including 8D, PDCA cycle, Ishikawa Fish Bone/6M analysis, and 5 Whys?
- Knowledge of modern electronic-based controls and automation
- Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university, plus 2+ years of production or manufacturing engineering experience in a mechanical assembly role
- An action-oriented individual with exceptional communication skills
- U.S. Citizenship Required; experience working in an ISO/IATF/AS environment
