Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Support a middle school student in an alternative special education day school, making a difference in both academics and behavioral growth during school hours from 8:45 to 3:00. This contract opportunity allows you to build meaningful connections, foster student success, and develop skills in a specialized educational environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional, teaching assistant, or similar support role preferred
- Comfort working with middle school-aged students
- Familiarity with alternative or special education settings is a plus
- Strong communication skills to work collaboratively with teachers and school team
- Patience, empathy, and dedication to supporting students with diverse needs
- Ability to implement behavior intervention strategies under guidance
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide direct academic and behavioral support to an assigned middle school student throughout the school day
- Assist with classroom activities, assignments, and individualized instruction per teacher guidance
- Support positive behavioral interventions, helping the student stay engaged and on-task
- Track, document, and report on student progress as requested
- Work collaboratively with special education teachers, therapists, and other team members
- Encourage student confidence, independence, and self-advocacy in daily routines
- Help maintain a structured, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
