Job Summary:
- The Maintenance Lead plays a critical role in supporting the Maintenance Manager and coordinating facility maintenance operations in their absence. This role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining processing and packaging equipment, as well as building, office, and grounds upkeep within a production environment.
Job Duties:
- Support and coordinate with maintenance management, production, sanitation, and logistics teams to address facility-related maintenance issues, including electrical, plumbing, lighting, and general repairs.
- Promote and enforce safety practices across all departments.
- Train employees in safe operation of lifts, welding techniques, and other maintenance procedures.
- Assist in coaching and training waste water technicians; cover extended absences as needed.
- Oversee and coordinate contractors during scheduled maintenance or repair projects.
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and follow direction while prioritizing tasks.
- Plan and schedule preventive maintenance, issue work orders, and ensure equipment readiness for production.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
- Perform setup, troubleshooting, dismantling, and repair of high-speed packaging equipment, conveyors, check-weighers, cartoners, UPC coding systems, and related machinery.
- Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and repair of 110/230/460V electrical equipment, including motors, panels, starters, relays, timers, breakers, and wiring.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics; perform minor PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Fabricate parts and modify equipment as required to maintain operational efficiency.
- Assist in coaching and mentoring maintenance and operating personnel.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support plant operations.
Qualifications:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interpret procedures and communicate effectively.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently within a team environment.
- Safety- and quality-conscious, with a strong work ethic.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; basic reading, writing, and math skills necessary.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience in a USDA or FDA-regulated food manufacturing environment.
