Job Overview:
Jacobs Engineering is seeking an experienced Operator to support wastewater treatment plant operations and compost facility loader operations in Southbridge, MA. This position is ideal for candidates with wastewater operations, heavy equipment, CDL, or industrial plant experience who are committed to safety, maintenance, and efficient plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plant equipment and systems
• Perform loader operations at the compost facility
• Monitor plant operations and make process control adjustments as needed
• Diagnose operational issues and perform corrective actions
• Conduct preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, motors, engines, and related equipment
• Collect samples, perform laboratory testing, and maintain accurate shift logs
• Determine proper chemical flow rates and support wastewater treatment processes
• Prepare operational reports and maintain compliance documentation
• Respond to after-hours emergency calls when on-call
• Follow all workplace safety procedures and support a safe working environment
• Perform additional operational and maintenance duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
• Valid Massachusetts CDL with Class (N) endorsement required
• Hoisting Engineer 2A or 2B License required
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Ability to participate in rotating on-call schedule and report to plant within 30 minutes during emergencies
• Strong mechanical and operational troubleshooting skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Massachusetts Wastewater License (any M license level) preferred
• Experience in wastewater treatment plant operations preferred
• Knowledge of pumps, valves, motors, biological and chemical treatment processes, and industrial wastewater systems
• Understanding of safe work practices and preventive maintenance procedures
• Experience with laboratory testing and wastewater sampling preferred
Important Notes:
• Candidates must live within approximately 30 minutes of the facility due to emergency response requirements
• Wastewater operations experience or licensing is highly preferred
• Active CDL and hoisting license are primary requirements for this role
