Contract Social Media Strategist / Small Business Growth Consultant
Job Description
Job Description
Contract Social Media Strategist / Small Business Growth Consultant
I’m a small business owner in healthcare recruiting looking for an experienced social media strategist to help me build a thoughtful, sustainable social media presence that supports business growth.
I am not primarily looking for a content creator or graphic designer. I can create graphics and contribute content. What I need is someone who understands how to build and execute a social media strategy for a small business.
The initial focus will be LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, with openness to additional platforms if there is a strategic reason to use them.
What I Need
I’m looking for someone who can help me answer questions such as:
- Which platforms should I prioritize and why?
- What should I be posting on each platform?
- How often should I post?
- What types of content are most likely to generate visibility, engagement, credibility, and ultimately business opportunities?
- How should content differ between LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram?
- What should I be measuring?
- How do we determine whether the strategy is actually working?
- How can I build a repeatable system that does not require me to manage social media all day?
- What tools should I use to schedule and distribute content efficiently across platforms?
Initial Project
The first engagement would likely include:
- Review of my business, target audiences, current digital presence, and business goals
- Development of a practical small-business social media strategy
- Identification of priority platforms and target audiences
- Creation of content pillars and messaging themes
- Recommended posting cadence by platform
- Guidance on content mix, including educational, recruiting, thought-leadership, business-owner, engagement, and promotional content
- Recommendation and setup of a centralized social media management/scheduling platform
- Development of a streamlined workflow for creating, approving, scheduling, and repurposing content
- Setup of analytics and reporting
- Establishment of baseline metrics and measurable goals
- Recommendations for increasing followers, impressions, reach, clicks, comments, engagement, and qualified business activity
- Training so I understand the strategy, tools, and metrics rather than simply outsourcing everything blindly
Results Matter
I am specifically looking for someone who can demonstrate that they have helped a business improve social media performance.
Please be prepared to share examples of measurable results, such as:
- Growth in followers or audience
- Increased impressions or reach
- Increased engagement rates
- Increased clicks or website traffic
- Increased comments, conversations, or inbound inquiries
- Lead generation or business development results
- Improvements in posting consistency or content performance
I am less interested in how many posts you have created than in what those posts accomplished.
Ideal Background
The right person will have experience developing social media strategy for small businesses, professional services companies, healthcare organizations, recruiting/staffing firms, or B2B companies.
You should be able to explain the reasoning behind your recommendations and adjust the strategy based on actual performance data.
Experience with platforms such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, Buffer, Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Later, Metricool, HubSpot, Canva, or similar tools is helpful.
Contract Structure
This will begin as a project-based contract engagement, likely focused first on strategy and setup.
Depending on fit and results, I may also be interested in ongoing support for:
- Content planning
- Scheduling and publishing
- Analytics review
- Strategy adjustments
- Audience growth
- Engagement recommendations
- Campaign development
- Routine social media management
When applying, please include:
- Examples of businesses you have helped
- Specific measurable results you achieved
- Your approach to developing a social media strategy for a small business
- The tools/platforms you typically recommend
- Your pricing for an initial strategy/setup engagement
- Any ongoing monthly support options you offer
