Responsibilities
- Perform daily bank account reconciliations and investigate and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.
- Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns for multiple entities and jurisdictions.
- Prepare and file various transportation and fuel-related tax returns in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and complete balance sheet reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.
- Assist with treasury-related activities, including cash management and related reporting.
- Respond to government statistical surveys and reporting requests accurately and within required deadlines.
- Analyze financial data to identify variances, trends, and anomalies, and clearly communicate findings.
- Recommend and support process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Support additional accounting, tax, treasury, and analytical projects as assigned.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in public accounting, audit, or a dynamic corporate accounting environment.
- Working knowledge of US GAAP and general accounting principles.
- Hands-on experience with bank account reconciliations, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
- Experience preparing and filing sales and use tax returns, preferably with multi-state tax exposure.
- Experience with regulatory reporting, tax return preparation, and government survey reporting.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong skills in other Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform variance analysis and interpret financial data.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with multi-state tax compliance is preferred.
- Experience in public accounting, tax, or audit is highly valued.
- Experience with remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, or Asana is preferred.
- Experience with Crystal Reports is a plus.
- Demonstrated process improvement mindset and willingness to recommend and implement enhancements.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong interest in developing toward a senior financial leadership role over time.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site position based in a fast-growing construction and asphalt business environment in West Springfield, MA. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, on-site. After the first 90 days of employment, you may be eligible to select one remote workday per week, typically between Tuesday and Thursday, subject to business needs. The role involves working with modern accounting systems, Microsoft Excel, and other office productivity tools, as well as remote collaboration platforms such as Slack, Zoom, or Asana. The environment is fast-paced and growth-oriented, offering significant exposure to accounting, tax, and treasury functions and a clear path for professional development.

This is a Permanent position based out of West Springfield, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
Company benefits will be provided to candidates once an offer is extended.
