We’re looking for a Co-op Research Technician in Electrochemical & Electro-Optical Characterization!

About the Position:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and disciplined research co-op to learn and execute fundamental electrochemical and electrooptical experiments. You will work closely with a senior researcher who will provide instruction on the theory underlying these experiments, guide subsequent data analysis, and mentor you in adapting established techniques to generate novel experimental variants.

The bulk of the work will involve electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and potentiostatic methods to investigate potential relationships between optical and electrical states. The role may also involve elements of statistical process control and will provide valuable exposure to sound experimental design principles.

This work directly supports the development of a color platform for E Ink’s core ePaper technology.

Responsibilities;

  • Execute small-perturbation, potentiostatic, and galvanostatic measurements in a timely and experimentally rigorous manner
  • Process and analyze experimental data; communicate findings concisely and accurately
  • Propose and test creative solutions to technical challenges with minimal supervision

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related discipline with coursework in mass transfer, reaction kinetics, and thermodynamics
  • Strong foundational understanding of mass transfer, reaction kinetics, and thermodynamics
  • Minimum of one semester of hands-on wet-lab experience
  • Proficiency in at least one data analysis tool capable of curve fitting (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Excel, JMP)
  • Detail-oriented disposition with a strong sense of intellectual curiosity

Preferences:

  • Knowledge of applied statistics and numerical optimization methods
  • Background in electrochemistry
  • Familiarity with electrooptical measurement techniques
  • Experience handling laboratory power sources and instrumentation
  • Experience presenting research at conferences or in other professional settings

Benefits:

  • Medical coverage
  • 3.08 hours of ITO (Intern time off) per payroll
  • 401(k)
  • Casual day to day work environment
  • Shuttle available from Alewife
