Job Title: Network & Security Lead (Managed Services)
Compensation: Base salary $160,000–$180,000 + bonus potential of $30,000–$40,000
Location: New England region (customer travel required)
Work Model: Remote with regional travel
Minimum Experience: 8+ years networking/security engineering; leadership experience preferred
Role Summary
Our client, a managed services organization specializing in network and security solutions, is seeking a hands-on Network & Security Lead to provide technical leadership across complex customer engagements. This role blends deep technical expertise with team mentorship and direct customer interaction. The successful candidate will guide engineering teams through design, deployment, and support of advanced network and security environments while ensuring alignment with best practices and client business requirements.
This is a remote-based role with approximately 25% travel to customer sites across the New England territory. A valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally are required.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership

Lead end-to-end execution of network and security projects, including design, staging, installation, validation, and troubleshooting.

Ensure network architectures align with business objectives, budget considerations, scalability, reliability, and security best practices.

Provide escalation-level support and guidance during complex deployments and technical challenges.
Client Engagement

Act as the primary technical lead for managed services and professional services engagements.

Lead technical design workshops and contribute to pre-sales and solution-scoping activities.

Ensure a high-quality customer experience through clear communication and effective solution delivery.
Business & Team Collaboration

Partner with sales, pre-sales, project management, and engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.

Mentor and develop engineering staff, supporting both technical growth and professional development.
Required QualificationsNetworking & Security Expertise
-
Advanced experience designing, configuring, and troubleshooting enterprise routing and switching environments following Cisco best practices.

Strong knowledge of OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, IP addressing, TCP/IP, the OSI model, and common TCP/UDP ports and services.

Proven experience in network security, including device hardening and secure protocol implementation.
Cloud & SD-WAN

Hands-on experience with cloud networking in AWS, Azure, and GCP, including Aviatrix.

Practical experience deploying and supporting SD-WAN solutions such as Cisco Viptela, Silver Peak, or Palo Alto Prisma SD-WAN.
Security Platforms

Experience deploying and managing security solutions from Palo Alto Networks (Panorama, Prisma Access, Prisma Cloud) and Cisco (Firepower/FTD, Meraki MX, FMC).

Ability to design and implement secure network infrastructures aligned with industry standards and compliance expectations.
Experience & Education

8+ years of experience in networking and security engineering, design, and project delivery.

Prior experience in a managed services or similar client-facing environment is required.

Bachelor’s degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent military experience.
Preferred Qualifications

2+ years in a technical leadership or team management role.

Experience with Fortinet solutions (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer).

Familiarity with Arista (CloudVision) and Aruba (CX, OS, VSX/VSF) platforms.

Network automation or scripting experience (Python, EEM, TCL).

Active certifications such as Cisco CCNP or CCIE, and/or Palo Alto PCNSA, PCCSE, or PCNSE.
Compensation & Work Model

Competitive base salary in the $160,000–$180,000 range.

Performance-based bonus potential of $30,000–$40,000.

Fully remote role with approximately 25% travel to customer locations within the New England region.
