JSG is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist Set Up / Operator to join their team in Peabody, MA.
This role involves operating and setting up CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precision parts.
The candidate will work on either 1st shift (7am-3:30pm) or 2nd shift (3pm-11:30pm), with pay ranging from $20-$35 per hour depending on experience.
The position requires expertise in machine setup, operation, blueprint reading, and troubleshooting to maintain quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Set up CNC lathes and milling machines for production runs
- Operate machines using G-codes and CAD/CAM programming tools
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical documents
- Select tooling and determine appropriate machining methods
- Make adjustments to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances
- Monitor operations and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Track job time and collect SPC data to support productivity goals
- Perform preventive maintenance and maintain a clean, safe workspace
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and special projects
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- 10 years machining experience, including 8+ years CNC operation
- Proficient in G-code programming and standard CAD/CAM software
- Strong knowledge of machine shop equipment and metal cutting practices
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprint drawings
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years in CNC machining with a focus on lathes and milling machines
- Advanced skills in blueprint interpretation and machining setup
- Experience with manual programming and production tracking tools
