Position Summary:
The Facilities Caretaker oversees the daily operation of the Church building. This
includes supervising the maintenance and repair of the building, overseeing clean up
and set up crews, and working with independent contractors to implement the
Stewardship Team’s policies and decisions to ensure a clean, safe, and well-
maintained building. The position requires strong time management skills, attention to
detail, the ability to multi-task, plan ahead, and implement building-related projects.
The Facilities Caretaker must also successfully relate well with a wide variety of church
people and community stakeholders.
Working Relationships:
This position works closely with the Stewardship Ministry Team regarding repairs and
maintenance, and the Pastor and church staff regarding events and building use
needs.
Compensation:
This position is part-time up to 20 hours per week with an hourly rate set by the church
with advice and consent of the Stewardship Ministry Team.
Building Maintenance and Repair:
The Facilities Caretaker oversees building inspection services by outside contractors,
including annual cleaning of the heating system, fire inspection and cleaning in addition
to building safety and security systems. The position may include lawn mowing, and
snow removal. The Facilities Caretaker determines whether minor repairs can be
completed in-house or brought to the attention of the Stewardship Ministry Team. The
Caretaker will also advise Church leadership as to anticipated capital repairs and
upgrade needs.
Event set up:
The Facilities Caretaker sets up and takes down chairs, tables, and partitions for
church events throughout the year and may work outside of normal hours.
Cleaning:
The Facilities Caretaker is also responsible for the regular cleaning of bathrooms,
common areas, and the sanctuary.
