Junior Accounting Analyst

Job Description

Our growing manufacturing client is looking to expand their finance team with a Junior Accounting Analyst. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting or finance professional who enjoys working with data, investigating variances, learning how business processes work, and collaborating with teams to solve problems. The role is designed to provide opportunities for professional growth, with responsibilities that may expand over time to include budgeting, cost forecasting, project variance analysis, and other financial planning and analysis activities.

Key Responsibilities

\n

    \n
  • Perform daily inventory reconciliations and use ERP data, transaction records, and supporting documentation to investigate and explain variances.
  • \n

  • Identify potential process, training, or system issues and communicate concerns to management in a timely manner.
  • \n

  • Maintain detailed schedules for general ledger reconciliations and prepare monthly journal entries.
  • \n

  • Analyze manufacturing and accounting transactions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand transaction activity, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues.
  • \n

  • Support compliance with applicable GAAP inventory accounting requirements.
  • \n

  • Assist with transaction corrections, system cleanup, and follow-up activities to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
  • \n

  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and other accounting-related projects as assigned.
  • \n

  • Perform additional duties as needed to support the accounting and finance team.
  • \n

Technical Qualifications

\n

    \n
  • Associate degree or higher in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • \n

  • At least one year of accounting or finance experience, including account reconciliation; two or more years preferred. Relevant internship or co-op experience may be considered.
  • \n

  • Working knowledge of GAAP principles and account reconciliation practices.
  • \n

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • \n

  • Experience working with ERP or accounting systems; two or more years preferred. Experience with Global Shop Solutions is a plus.
  • \n

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment required; two or more years preferred.
  • \n

  • Prior experience working for a government contractor is a plus.
  • \n

  • Experience developing and analyzing Excel models preferred, including nested formulas, pivot tables, and mathematical and logical functions.
  • \n
