Employment Type: Contract (Non-Personal Services)

Position Overview:

The Hanscom Air Force Base Chapel Staff is seeking a qualified and committed Catholic Religious Education (RE) Ministries Coordinator to lead, coordinate, and support the Catholic religious education and faith formation program. This position is responsible for developing, facilitating, and organizing all Catholic RE activities for youth through adult age groups. The RE Coordinator will work in close partnership with the Catholic Priest and Chapel Staff to support religious education programming in accordance with Catholic doctrine and the goals of the Hanscom AFB Chapel community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary coordinator and facilitator for all Catholic Religious Education programs for children, youth, and adults.

  • Assist the Catholic Priest with the development and implementation of a comprehensive faith formation curriculum aligned with the teachings of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS).

  • Support the Catholic Priest and Chapel Staff in planning and managing religious education calendars, annual program schedules, and special events.

  • Collaborate on budget planning and execution for RE programs; provide input on resource needs and material procurement.

  • Submit facility use requests and coordinate with Chapel personnel to ensure appropriate space and scheduling for RE activities.

  • Recruit, train, and supervise RE volunteers; ensure compliance with chapel and AMS standards, including background checks and training for child safety.

  • Promote Catholic RE programs within the parish through announcements, bulletins, and other communication channels.

  • Maintain records of attendance, volunteer participation, and religious education milestones (e.g., sacraments, confirmation classes).

  • Uphold chapel policies and ensure that all RE activities reflect the values and standards of Hanscom AFB and the Catholic faith.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies, Education, Theology, or a related field preferred.

  • At least 2 years of experience in Catholic religious education or faith formation.

  • Familiarity with the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS) guidelines and catechetical standards.

  • Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with clergy, staff, volunteers, and parishioners.

  • Must pass a background check and comply with all base access and child protection requirements.

Work Schedule & Conditions:

  • Part-time, flexible hours averaging 15–20 hours per week, including some evenings, weekends, and holidays in support of RE activities.

  • On-site presence required at Hanscom AFB Chapel and surrounding facilities as needed.

  • This is a non-personal services contract position; the contractor is not an employee of the U.S. Government.
