Job Description

The Mission: Powering Our Community

At Fiber Connect, we are proud to be the premier fiber provider for our neighbors. We’re looking for a Fiber Optic Lineman to help us install, maintain, and repair the critical infrastructure that keeps our residential and commercial clients connected.

Whether you’re working from a bucket truck or climbing a utility pole, you are the backbone of our network. While we would prefer to hire a local candidate from the area, we are absolutely open to considering talented professionals willing to relocate to beautiful Great Barrington!

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Year-Round Stability: No "seasonal" lulls—we work year-round to keep our community online.
  • Modern Equipment: You’ll have the tools, power equipment, and bucket trucks you need to do the job safely and efficiently.
  • Great Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) 4 days a week, 10 hour shift and rotating on-call, with a potential for overtime.
  • Complete Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401(k) matching, Paid Time Off, and an Employee Assistance Program.

What You’ll Do

  • The High Work: Safely operate bucket trucks and climb utility poles (up to 40 feet) to install and repair aerial fiber systems.
  • The Tech Work: Inspect, test, and troubleshoot lines. You’ll use specialized test equipment to find faults and analyze transmission quality.
  • The Ground Work: Read and interpret schematics and outside plant designs to ensure installations are accurate and up to code.
  • The Teamwork: Collaborate with our crew to hit project goals while providing 5-star service to our local customers.

What You Bring to the Team

  • Experience: Prior experience as a Lineman in aerial and underground (OSP) environments is a plus.
  • Skills: Knowledge of fiber splicing and low voltage systems is preferred. You should be comfortable with power tools, lashers, and climbing gear.
  • Grit: You’re ready to work outdoors in various weather conditions and take pride in a clean, organized job site.
  • A Clean Record: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
  • Self-Motivation: You’re a problem-solver who can work independently but also knows how to be a great teammate.
