The Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Division at our facility is in search of a full-time academic Head and Neck Surgeon/Otolaryngologist. The ideal candidate will have specialized training in head and neck surgical oncology as well as facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, including expertise in microvascular free tissue transfer. Proficiency in DaVinci robotic transoral surgery for pharyngeal procedures is essential. Experience in facial trauma repair and post-Mohs reconstruction is a plus. The role will also encompass a comprehensive range of ENT practices, including rhinology, laryngology, and basic otology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, diagnose, and treat patients within the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery specialty.
- Execute intricate oncologic, reconstructive, and microvascular surgeries, including robotic transoral techniques.
- Deliver clinical services in rhinology, laryngology, and otology, and participate in on-call duties.
- Engage in educational, supervisory, and academic initiatives, including research and publication efforts.
- Collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams focused on veteran-centered care.
Work Schedule: Full-time; Monday to Friday; specific hours to be determined with your supervisor.
Qualifications

Must be a U.S. citizen.

Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.

A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited medical or osteopathic institution, recognized by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year of completion.

A current, unrestricted medical or surgical license to practice in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth, including the District of Columbia.

Completion of residency training in an accredited core specialty program, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, leading to eligibility for board certification. (Note: VA physicians involved in academic training may need to be board certified for faculty roles.) Approved residency programs include: (1) Those accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), (2) Those accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or (3) Other residency programs (non-U.S.) followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the U.S., deemed appropriate by the local Medical Staff Executive Committee. Residents currently in ACGME/AOA accredited programs may be appointed as ‘Physician Resident Providers‘ (PRPs), provided they are fully licensed physicians and may only work intermittently or on a fee-basis. PRPs are not considered independent practitioners and will not have privileges; they will have a limited scope of practice under supervision. Additionally, surgery residents in gap years may also be appointed as PRPs.
Additional Qualifications:

Board certification in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is required.

Preferred experience in facial trauma repair and reconstruction following dermatologic surgery.

Credentials suitable for appointments at a medical school such as Boston University or Harvard.

Completion of a fellowship in head and neck surgical oncology and facial plastics/microvascular reconstruction.

A strong academic background with demonstrated teaching, research, and publication experience.

Expertise in microvascular reconstruction and robotic transoral surgery is essential.
