Job Summary:
Join our team as a Professional Engineer - Geotechnical Engineering and play a key role in delivering innovative solutions for complex geotechnical projects in the NYC Metro Area. We're seeking an experienced expert with a strong background in soil mechanics, foundation design, and geotechnical analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical
- Conduct geotechnical site investigations, including soil sampling and testing.
- Conduct and supervise detailed building inspections to ensure conformance to NYC & NYS codes, focusing on underpinning, geotechnical drilling (Rock Coring/Test Pits/Cone Penetration Tests/Standard Penetration Tests), deep foundations installation (Driven Piles/Micropiles/Helical Piles/Caissons), civil, and structural aspects.
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, ensuring all records reflect progress, violations, and compliance with regulatory standards. Ensure the confidentiality of client information and proprietary data.
- Review and analyze the design of foundations, retaining walls, and other geotechnical structures.
- Develop and implement geotechnical engineering plans and specifications.
- Conduct stability analyses for slopes and excavations.
- Evaluate soil-structure interaction and settlement analyses.
Project Management
- Manage geotechnical projects from conception to completion.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, engineers, and contractors.
- Prepare and manage project schedules, budgets, and resources.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards and project objectives are met by closely monitoring progress.
Documentation and Reporting
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports and records.
- Maintain accurate records, calculations, and drawings.
- Develop and implement quality control procedures.
Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
Professional License
- Valid Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in NY & NJ.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably in a consulting/ quality assurance environment.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, soil mechanics, and foundation design.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
- Required to travel to project sites in the New York City Metro Area and work at project offices on site.
