Job DescriptionAre you the machinist who can turn prints into perfect parts—every time?

If you thrive in a disciplined, AS9100-driven shop and enjoy balancing precision with pace, this opportunity in Groveland, MA or Newburyport, MA is for you. You’ll machine components to exact customer specifications and verify results with in-process inspections. Interested in leadership? Step into tasks that oversee scheduling, programming, troubleshooting, and first piece inspections in the turning or milling area.

What you'll do

  • Run CNC lathe, mill, and mill-turn equipment to customer prints using CNC programs
  • Inspect as you go, meeting print callouts; deburr to specification
  • Keep parts identified and lots segregated at all times
  • Detect, segregate, and report non-conforming material and foreign object debris (FOD)
  • Control non-conforming material with the correct documentation
  • Accurately report any damaged/nonconforming parts to team leaders/Manager
  • Complete documentation and job travelers with precision
  • Assist with packaging and shipping to get parts out the door
  • Adhere to AS9100D and customer-specific requirements
  • Report any safety issues encountered during normal job activities

Lead pathway (when applicable)

  • Oversee and schedule work in the turning or milling area
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining/programming issues
  • Program, roll out upgrades, and verify results of changes
  • Partner with the turning or milling lead on first piece inspections

Do you bring these strengths?

  • Clear, accurate print reading
  • Basic GD&T understanding (a plus)
  • Ability to multitask—measure parts while others run; operate more than one machine
  • Dexterity, attention to detail, and strong organizational habits
  • Safety-first mindset with a solid track record
  • Comfort reading/using gages and other measurement devices (calipers, micrometers)
  • Team-first attitude suited to an AS9100 environment

Knowledge and tools

  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerance understanding
  • Brown and Sharpe Micro-Val CMM experience (plus)
  • CMM Manager software experience (plus)
  • Inspection equipment proficiency: dial indicators, gage blocks, micrometers
  • Strong communication and math skills
  • Experience in an AS9100 shop environment

Training and education

  • Familiarity with Jet Machined Products inspection forms and record keeping practices
  • AS9100 awareness
  • High School diploma or GED (vocational or non-vocational)

Who you report to

Turning/milling lead; if serving as lead, the General Manager.

Physical demands and environment

  • Must be able to lift and move machined parts
  • Clean, relatively quiet shop; hearing protection required in some areas
  • Eye hazard potential; eye protection required for certain operations

Hours

Occasional overtime, workload dependent.
