Summary:
The Quality Inspector will verify that all materials and components received from suppliers meet quality standards and specifications before they are used in production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, components, and products to quality and safety standards.
- Perform physical inspection of optical components through the use of microscopes and measurement equipment.
- Perform visual and dimensional inspection of injection molded, sheet metal, and packaging components for conformity to specifications.
- Records inspection results, creates reports, and maintains accurate records.
- Identifies and documents any defects or deviations from specifications.
- Executes calibration activities, including review and retrieval of calibrated equipment for processing.
- Facilitates all weekly Material Review Board meetings and performs the necessary transactions associated with that process.
- Communicate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve quality issues and ensure the timely delivery of conforming materials.
- Collaborate with other departments such as engineering, manufacturing, and service to address quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
Requirements:
Skills and Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience as a Quality Inspector in a small-batch, high-variety manufacturing environment.
- Must be able to read blueprints, schematics, specifications, etc.
- Experience with inspection tools and equipment: digital height gages, verniers, pin gages, etc.
- Knowledge in using a FARO Arm is preferred but not necessary.
- Knowledge of sampling methodologies; MIL STD, ANSI, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of ERP/PLM systems such as NetSuite and Arena.
- Strong attention to detail when performing inspections and documenting results.
- Must be able to work in a cross-functional team environment.
- The ability to work in an environment with competing priorities is necessary.
- Ability to cooperate as part of the quality team to meet department goals.
- A High School Diploma or technical degree, or equivalent, is required.
