POSITION SUMMARY:
As an Soldering Technician, you will be responsible for soldering SMT/PCBA and cable assemblies to meet design requirements. This is not assembly line work; you will be involved in the full build from the beginning through final test and certification of a variety of products. You will work closely with the engineering team, providing feedback for continued product design improvement. The successful candidate must be able to follow assembly instructions, standard operating/quality assurance procedures, and function well in a manufacturing environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Rework/assemble SMT/PCBA assemblies to meet design requirements.
· Rework/assemble small cable assemblies to meet design requirements.
· Perform quality work checks to ensure the product meets quality standards utilizing established procedures
· Follow detailed process travelers and document any relevant production test data
· Contribute to process improvements and assembly procedures within the relevant assembly areas
· Interface with engineering to resolve more difficult issues
QUALIFICATIONS:
Critical Success Factors:
· Ability to identify and fix soldering defects on PTH/SMD parts including open solder, disturbed solder, bridging, excess or insufficient solder, poor wetting, fractured solder joints, etc.
· Ability to identify and fix soldering defects on small cable assemblies.
· Ability to remove and fix solder interconnects using hot air tools and soldering irons.
· Ability to read and understand instructions written in English.
· Ability to perform fine pitch soldering and inspection under a microscope.
· Ability for soldering results to meet IPC-610 inspection criteria.
· Ability to meet goals with minimum supervision.
· Comfortable with schematics and mechanical drawings
· Experience and desire to work in a collaborative team environment and proactive engagement in innovation / problem solving, and all aspects of communication.
Required Skills/Experience:
· 3+ years of experience in production assembly
· Proficient with soldering tools (hot air, soldering iron, etc.)
· Proficient with precision hand tools such as screwdriver and power tools such as drill press and belt sander
· Must be self-starter with ability to work with minimum level of supervision
· Must be authorized to work in the United States
Desired Skills/Experience:
· Previous or current IPC-610 or IPC J-STD-001 training or certification
· Experience with hand pick-and-place of SMD components and manual reflow ovens.
· Comfortable using business applications (email, spreadsheets, etc.)
· Flexibility to work overtime as business needs dictate
Education:
· HS Diploma or equivalent
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, color, and peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.
TRAVEL: 5% travel may be required primarily in the US
