Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Make a meaningful impact as a Special Education Teacher supporting young learners with significant needs in an onsite role near Williamstown, MA. This rewarding contract position offers you the chance to contribute to substantially separate classrooms, serving either K-1st grade or 3rd-5th grade students. You will work with children who have both cognitive and physical disabilities, some of whom are non-verbal or on the autism spectrum. Many students benefit from Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) support, and your expertise will play a vital role in helping these children grow academically and personally.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience with substantially separate classrooms or similar settings
- Background in specially designed instruction
- Applied behavior analysis (ABA) experience preferred
- Comfortable providing toileting and personal care support as needed
- Skilled in supporting students with a wide range of disabilities, including non-verbal and autistic children
- Collaborative, compassionate approach to working with multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet individual learning needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction in accordance with each student’s IEP
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment
- Collaborate closely with other educators, therapists, and RBTs
- Maintain accurate records and participate in IEP meetings
- Provide hands-on assistance with daily living and personal care tasks, including toileting
- Utilize ABA strategies to support student behavior and learning
