About Caledonia Food Co-op
Caledonia Food Co-op is a member-owned grocery store that draws together the diverse communities of Caledonia County and surrounding areas in an inclusive space supporting food justice, local resilience, environmental stewardship, area food producers and a vibrant downtown St. Johnsbury.
Essential Job Duties
- Support paperless recruitment, and onboarding, in partnership with (Paylocity)
- Process employee job and status changes, promotions and terminations
- Partner with health & welfare plan brokers to ensure timely and accurate benefit enrollment and changes in accordance with ACA and other regulations.
- Understand, adhere to and/or implement state and federal compliance regarding wage & hour, record keeping, reporting and other regulatory requirements.
- Workers’ compensation claims management and OSHA reporting.
- Personal and medical leave management in accordance with federal or state law and Co-op policies.
- Unemployment claim management and state new hire reporting.
- Facilitate assigned training of staff and managers
- Facilitate communication while supporting employee recognition and an inclusive and diverse workplace culture.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure HIPAA and other privacy compliance.
- Partner with General Manager to develop or update and implement HR-related policies and procedures.
- Promote team building and motivate staff to accomplish assigned goals.
- Maintain HRIS database and audit to ensure data integrity.
- Prepare reports as needed for the General Manager and Board of Directors or other agencies as required by law. Ensure all reports provide accurate detailed information.
- Prepare, with the General Manager, benefit, and labor forecasts in preparation of the annual budget.
- “Lead by example” following Co-op policies and procedures. Be an example to all store personnel by being well versed in store policies and procedures.
- Maintain employee records and archives in accordance with retention regulations.
- Internal or external agency audit support and compliance.

Requirements:
Experience and Educational Requirements
- 1-3 years’ experience in HR, or other related field.
- Associates Degree or certificate in HR a plus
- Minimum of one year experience managing data in an HRIS system as well as reporting functions
- Strong working knowledge of MS programs including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Extensive understanding of HR trends both within the company and general market patterns
- Experience guiding employees to ensure appropriate HR processes are being utilized
- A solid understanding of state and federal employment law

- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA & other federal, state & local standards - including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA & other federal, state and local standards
