Master's degree in Occupational Therapy, active Occupational Therapist license and 1+ year of Occupational Therapy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An Occupational Therapist is needed for a leave contract position serving K-12 students in a public school district in Lowell, MA, with assignments at Cutler Elementary School, Miles River Middle School, and Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. This role focuses on supporting students with neurodevelopmental and sensorimotor challenges through direct therapy and collaboration with educational teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct occupational therapy services using both push-in and pull-out methods to meet individual student needs.
- Develop and implement treatment plans addressing fine motor skills, visual motor skills, and sensory integration.
- Conduct assessments and administer evaluations to aid eligibility determinations for special education services.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and educational staff to create and support IEPs, including goal setting, accommodations, and progress documentation.
- Participate in IEP, 504, and student support team meetings to advocate for student needs.
- Utilize assistive technology, both low-tech and high-tech, tailored to each student's requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation compliant with legal standards and Medicaid reimbursement policies.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and district meetings to stay current in best practices.
- Support vocational programs within specialized educational settings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by district leadership.
Qualifications:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist with experience in school settings.
- Ability to apply current neurophysiological research related to neurodevelopmental and sensorimotor dysfunction in school-age populations.
- Skilled in assessment tools, treatment planning, and special education compliance.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with assistive technology for students with disabilities.

Duration: Leave contract from April 27, 2026, to June 13, 2026
