Position Purpose: Reporting to the Director of Health Informatics, this role leads a team of engineers responsible for automating, maintaining, and supporting data and file processing systems at Revere Medical. The role involves overseeing the development of efficient and reliable data pipelines, ensuring smooth data operations, and continuously improving automation processes to meet the needs of internal stakeholders and external partners.

Management and leadership:

  • Team Leadership & Development: Manage a team of data engineers, conducting regular performance reviews, offering coaching, and providing guidance through challenges and growth opportunities.
  • DevOps Best Practices: Leverage industry-standard DevOps practices to build and maintain robust, scalable, and reliable data and file pipelines.
  • Agile Methodology: Lead team planning sessions using Scrum/Kanban, manage tasks in a work tracking system, and report on progress to ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Professional Growth: Foster the professional development of team members, offering advice on data management best practices and facilitating learning opportunities.
  • Goal Alignment: Establish annual team goals and objectives that align with the broader goals of the Health Informatics department and Revere Medical.
  • Technical Leadership: Act as a technical leader and key representative for the Data Operations team, ensuring effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

Work with internal/external partners and vendors:

  • Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external partners to support data file processes, such as handling file layout changes, disruptions in data delivery, and other critical issues.
  • SFTP and Data API Management: Oversee inbound and outbound SFTP file transfers and Data API integrations, ensuring data flows smoothly and securely between systems.
  • EDW Vendor Collaboration: Work closely with the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) vendor to ensure that the EDW implementation meets the evolving needs of Revere’s stakeholders and data requirements.

Works within the data system:

  • Job Scheduling & Monitoring: Schedule and monitor data load jobs in the EDW, ensuring all jobs are executed properly and efficiently.
  • Automation Tools Management: Oversee the scheduling and monitoring of automation tools used for file load processes, ensuring smooth operation and minimal downtime.
  • Incident Management: Triage and resolve minor process failures, escalating complex issues to the appropriate teams for resolution, and coordinating timely fixes.
  • Code Promotions: Manage the promotion of EDW code across environments to ensure seamless deployment and version control.

Education / Experience / Other Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Master’s preferred in Health Information Systems, Health Information Technology, Analytics, Healthcare Administration, or related experience

Years of Experience:

  • 4+ years of Dev or Data Operations experience
  • 2+ years of management experience with data engineers
  • 2+ years of data warehouse operations experience with Databricks

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Expertise in DevOps best practices for automation, monitoring, and maintaining data systems.
  • Proven experience with Agile project management methodologies, with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
  • Advanced data programming skills, including query optimization, data manipulation, and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency with scripting such as Python, PowerShell, etc.
  • A self-motivated, results-driven professional with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust to shifting priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex data issues and solutions to leadership and cross-functional teams.
