Job Description
Job Description:
This Manufacturing Engineer role focuses on designing and implementing advanced manufacturing solutions that transition innovative robotics and electromechanical products from concept to high-volume production. You will work at the intersection of product design, manufacturing engineering, and supplier quality to ensure next-generation robotic systems are manufacturable at scale, meet rigorous quality standards, and can be produced efficiently across a global supply base.
Responsibilities
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM), and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to transition complex autonomous robotic and mechatronic systems from design to scalable production.
- Review design specifications with mechanical, electrical, and product teams and provide detailed DFX feedback to optimize manufacturability, cost, reliability, and quality.
- Design, develop, and implement manufacturing test solutions for robotics, electromechanical systems, and consumer electronics, including fixtures and validation protocols for new product introductions.
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities from prototype through ramp and mass production, ensuring smooth handoff from development to manufacturing.
- Develop, qualify, and manage contract manufacturers and suppliers, including conducting supplier assessments, capability studies, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Manage product lifecycle changes across complex global supply chains, including engineering change management, documentation updates, and bill of materials (BOM) control within a PLM system.
- Implement best-in-class manufacturing systems and processes for scalability, with a focus on gearbox assembly, stator winding, rotor manufacturing, motor integration, and related electromechanical assembly operations.
- Lead cross-functional quality improvement projects, driving structured root cause analysis and corrective actions for supplier and production defects.
- Use quality methodologies such as FMEA, 8D, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement tools to diagnose mechanical and electrical failures and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Apply statistical process control and capability analysis to monitor and improve process performance at internal and external manufacturing sites.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or advanced manufacturing engineering, preferably with electromechanical or robotics products.
- Demonstrated experience applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and broader Design for X (DFX) principles to transition complex electromechanical products from design to scaled production.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing processes such as injection molding, machining, sheet metal fabrication, electronics assembly, or electromechanical assembly.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers and managing supplier relationships in a production environment.
- Knowledge of quality systems and methodologies, including Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement principles.
- Experience using CAD software and interpreting technical drawings, tolerances, and GD&T to support manufacturability and process development.
- Understanding of statistical process control (SPC) and process capability analysis to monitor and improve manufacturing performance.
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems for managing engineering changes, documentation, and bills of materials across NPI and sustaining phases.
- Proven ability to lead technical problem solving and failure analysis for mechanical and electrical issues, and to drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) from prototype builds through ramp and mass production.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous, and cross-functional environments, balancing multiple priorities and stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering or advanced manufacturing engineering, preferably with electromechanical or robotics products.
- Certifications such as Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
- Experience with robotics, mechatronics, or electromechanical systems manufacturing.
- Experience leading NPI activities specifically for robotics or advanced electromechanical products from prototype to mass production.
- Knowledge of test engineering principles and automated test equipment development for electronics and electromechanical systems.
- Experience with structured failure analysis techniques, including FMEA, 8D, and root cause corrective action methodologies.
- Experience working in global manufacturing environments across multiple time zones and cultures.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment across engineering, quality, and supply chain teams.
- Interest in and ability to contribute to a culture of mentorship, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
- Motivation to work on high-impact, large-scale manufacturing programs and to take meaningful ownership of complex technical challenges.
Work Environment:
You will join a collaborative, engineering-driven team that values innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement. The environment emphasizes inclusive teamwork, mentorship, and career growth, with a mix of experience levels and a strong focus on learning from one another. The typical schedule follows standard weekday working hours, with flexibility to help you balance personal and professional commitments.
