In this role, you will
- Serve as the communication bridge between shipping, production, sales, customer service, and carriers.
- Manage the full order lifecycle—from planning through completion—while ensuring on-time performance.
- Quote freight, schedule pickups/deliveries, and track shipments; document detention when needed.
- Coordinate daily with 3PLs and customer-selected carriers.
- Maintain a forward-looking shipping schedule that supports an efficient work plan.
- Prepare and finalize traffic, shipping, and customer reports with precision.
- Verify shipment accuracy and log carriers in and out promptly.
- Set delivery appointments for inbound materials; weigh trucks when directed.
- Gain familiarity with air freight, international moves, and hazardous shipments.
- Guide drivers during the day and partner with security to keep yard flow smooth.
- Cross-train across business units; uphold 6S standards and all safety policies.
- Meet quality and productivity targets; handle related duties as assigned.
What it takes
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1–3 years of clerical experience required.
- 1–3 years in transportation/shipping preferred; prior exposure helpful but not required.
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong time management, sound decision-making, and clear communication.
- General office know-how and strong Microsoft Office skills.
Work setting
Full-time, on-site role within a team-based manufacturing environment. Regular and punctual attendance is critical for safety and operations. Mandatory overtime may be required based on production demands and to ensure safe coverage beyond scheduled shifts.
Physical demands
- Ability to stand for long periods; squat, bend, twist, and turn as needed.
- Consistent use of required safety equipment.
