Duration: 13 weeks

Shift: Varied Days/ Evenings - 8 x 5

Payrate: $41/hr on w2


Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team at St. Joseph Hospital. The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for decontaminating, inspecting, assembling, packaging, sterilizing, and distributing reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment. The ideal candidate will ensure all instruments meet quality and infection control standards while supporting safe and efficient patient care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform decontamination of surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment following infection control protocols.
  • Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize instrument trays and surgical sets.
  • Operate sterilization equipment, including autoclaves, and perform quality assurance testing.
  • Prepare and deliver scheduled, emergency, and STAT case carts to the Operating Room.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and documentation of sterile supplies and incomplete case carts.
  • Clean, inspect, wrap, and prepare reusable linens and specialty equipment for sterilization.
  • Return processed equipment and supplies to designated storage areas.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Follow departmental policies, safety guidelines, and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in departmental meetings, education, and training sessions.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST/CSR Tech) preferred or ability to obtain certification.
  • 1–3 years of Central Sterile Processing or related experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of sterile processing, decontamination, infection prevention, and instrument handling.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.


Additional Information

  • Up to 16 hours of orientation is unpaid.
  • Facility may cancel up to 3 shifts during a 13-week contract.
