Tri-City has a rare opportunity for the right individual to join our growing dealership.
Our Service Team Members are very important positions in the dealership. You are the team the customer thinks of when their vehicle needs service and the team they see when they come to our facility – building long term relationships based on trust and integrity with clients is high priority.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Service Dispatcher (also known as a Shop Dispatcher) is the engine that keeps the service bay running. You aren't just scheduling; you're managing a complex flow of high-value machinery and expert labor to maximize "flag time" and customer satisfaction. Dealership-Specific Responsibilities
- Work Distribution: Assign repair orders (ROs) to technicians based on their specific skill levels (e.g., master techs for engine builds, junior techs for oil changes) and current workload.
- Flow Management: Monitor every vehicle's progress from check-in to completion. You must identify and clear "bottlenecks" in the shop to ensure on-time delivery.
- Liaison Role: Act as the primary bridge between Service Advisors (who talk to customers) and Technicians (who do the work), relaying updates on parts delays or additional needed repairs.
- Quality & Warranty Control: Ensure technicians follow strict warranty procedures for part tagging and documentation to guarantee the dealership gets paid by the manufacturer.
- Internal Inventory: Coordinate with the Parts Department to ensure all required components are staged and ready before a technician starts a job.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Industry Knowledge: Understanding of automotive systems and repair processes is often required to accurately estimate job times.
- Software Proficiency: Dealer Management Systems (DMS) like DealerTrack , or scheduling tools Xtime.
- Prioritization: The ability to manage "comebacks" (vehicles returned for failed repairs) and emergency walk-ins alongside regular appointments.
- Certification: Most roles require a high school diploma/GED and a valid driver's license.
