The CFSS Adventure-based – Lead Staff is central to the coordination and delivery of services to youth/young adults/adults (YYA) involved with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), Department of Children & Families (DCF), Department of Mental Health (DMH), and the Department of Public Health (DPH) in Adventure-Based, Experiential Learning (AB/EL) Programming.
This position facilitates on and off site Adventure programming using an experiential learning cycle. The right candidate is a technically trained outdoor leader with experience managing risks, designing scaffolded learning lesson planning and AB/EL group facilitation. This is a full time position with benefits.
The qualified candidate must have a minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth and families, and at least 1 year of experience working as a field guide or facilitating other AB/EL programming. Group facilitation and strong relationship-building skills required. Bachelors Degree in Human Services, Outdoor Education, or related field preferred. Excellent communication and computer skills required. Valid driver’s license, reliable and safe transportation required.

Requirements:
Purpose:
The CFSS Adventure-based – Lead Staff provides strength-based services to young people and their families to support progress toward their goals through adventure-based/experiential-learning opportunities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Acquiring a deep understanding and commitment to LUK’s Mission, Vision and Values and programming and advocacy
- To assist the Coordinator in all TREK services provided by LUK.
- Active outreach to create and maintain active partnerships within the community.
- Ensure timely and thorough completion and submission of all required documentation by staff, including billing.
- Lead staff to ensure the successful development, implementation and success of program outcomes.
- Promotes and participates in quality assurance activities.
- Provide crisis management and intervention as appropriate.
- Ensure that program complies with all licensing, regulatory, and purchaser requirements.
- Ensure program vehicles are maintained to industry standards.
- Maintain licenses and certification to industry standards.
Knowledge and Experience Required:
- 3 years of experience working with youth and families
- 1 year of experience as a field guide or facilitation of other AB/EL programming
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Outdoor Education or related field preferred
- Bilingual/bicultural candidates encouraged to apply
Skills and Abilities:
- Design and implement risk management strategies in regard to trip planning, evacuation planning, gear safety inspection and participant safety training.
- Provide services that respect each family and youth’s cultural background, heritage, and identity
- Lesson planning and seasonal adventure cycle planning.
- Wilderness First Aid or First Responder.
- Outdoor technical skills such as (but not limited to) small craft water vessels, mountaineering/climbing, high/low ropes challenge course, hiking/backpacking, Snowsports.
- Ability to drive 12 passenger van and trailer.
- Cultural responsiveness

- Able to work independently and collaboratively on a team
- Internet access for remote work
- Driver’s license along with reliable and safe transportation
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain therapeutic relationships

Job Location:
The CFSS Adventure-based Lead Staff will work in Central Massachusetts with access to office space in Boylston. Transportation required. Ability to work remotely on occasion.
Salary Range and Benefits:
Pay Range: 12. Salary Range: $41,600 – $51,500. Salary ranges within each pay grade are based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
