Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
An opportunity is available for a dedicated Special Education Teacher specializing in self-contained classrooms for students with moderate to severe disabilities. This full-time, contract position serves PreK-4 students with potential progression to grades 6-8. Located in Cambridge, MA, the role operates within a K-12 school setting for the duration of the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instructional support to students with moderate to severe special needs in a self-contained classroom environment.
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) aligned with Massachusetts state standards.
- Utilize behavior management strategies to support student development and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and support staff.
- Participate in regular progress monitoring and documentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certification in Moderate or Severe Special Education in Massachusetts is required.
- Proven experience working with students exhibiting behavioral challenges.
- Strong understanding of instructional strategies tailored to diverse learners within the special education framework.
- Ability to work effectively within a bell schedule from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, including dedicated daily preparation time from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
